Dean of the College Responsibilities

The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences is housed in the office of the provost. The dean serves as the executive dean and chief advisor to the provost. Responsible for all academic programs in the absences of the provost, the dean of the college has a number of regular University-wide duties that impact all academic programs. Those duties include leadership over the following areas:

  • Dialogue program/Writing Center
  • Sabbatical proposals
  • Faculty graduation activities
  • New faculty orientation
  • International programs office

Leadership in the College of Arts and Sciences

  • All faculties of arts and sciences
  • Review and approval of curriculum changes
  • Individual faculty development
  • Faculty workloads
  • Early review of faculty
  • Manages and prepares budget of the college
  • Meets regularly with division directors
  • Coordinates hiring process for new faculty
  • Works with admission on recruiting issues
  • Monitor and approves classroom caps
  • Approves adjuncts hires
  • Coordinates program reviews
  • Coordinates new program development
  • New faculty mentoring
  • Approves faculty-sponsored international programs
