Program Description
Come to the United States to study English at one of America's best learning institutions, North Park University. Located in Chicago, a world-class city known for its multinational businesses, vast educational resources, and multiple ethnic communities, North Park offers an unusual learning opportunity to international students and recent immigrants seeking undergraduate- or graduate-level education.
ESL students from around the world join the two programs we offer:
-
Academic ESL Program Offered in the fall and spring, this 15-week program prepares students for study in an American university setting. Students take four classes (12 semester-hours) per semester: speaking and listening, reading, writing, and structure. These classes are designed to prepare them for any of North Park's undergraduate programs. Upon successful completion of the Academic ESL Program, students who have already been accepted into a North Park University or Seminary program may enroll full-time in that program.
-
American Studies Summer Program The city of Chicago serves as a central part of this exciting curriculum. For five weeks, students take three classes — speaking-listening, reading-vocabulary, and culture — and participate in two field trips per week and an optional outing on Saturday. Students have many opportunities to practice their English as they become very familiar with Chicago!
Class sizes in both programs are small — 12 students maximum — so students can receive personalized attention. North Park's ESL Program is a full member of the American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP).
