First Week Activities

Summer Program 2011

I'd like to give you a little bit of information about the first week of our 5-week program:

Monday, June 27

The program begins. We will meet in Carlson Tower, Room C-13 at 9:00 AM for orientation. Here is a map of campus; Carlson Tower is building #14 and Room C-13 is on the main floor). First you will get information about the program, have a tour of the campus, and then break for lunch. After lunch, please be prepared to pay the balance of the program (if you have paid a deposit of $250, you will need to pay the difference). You can pay by credit card (Master Card or Visa), travelers' checks, U.S. money order, or personal check from a U.S. bank. You will also receive your photo ID card and insurance card.

Tuesday, June 28

More information about the program and field trips. After lunch, we will use Chicago's public transportation system (the CTA) to go downtown for a walking tour.

Wednesday, June 29

You will take a placement test (don't be nervous!!) in the morning and meet in small groups in the afternoon to talk about yesterday's walking tour.

Thursday, June 30

Classes begin! There are three classes – speaking-listening, reading-vocabulary, and culture. After your culture class, you can choose to take a one-hour walking tour of the nearby Albany Park neighborhood.
