The adult-learning core courses provide the opportunity to develop the habits of self-directed learners, sharpen your writing skills, and meet the expectations of college-level work delivered in an accelerated format. Together, these three courses prepare you to succeed in your major:

Adult Learning: Theories & Applications

In this course, you will explore and assess your own personal learning style. Recognizing how and in what circumstances you best learn will make your learning more enjoyable and successful. As part of the course, you will develop goals for your own learning and plans to achieve these goals.

Fluency with Information Technology

In this course, you will develop proficiency with technological applications that will facilitate your learning throughout the program. The course will also explore how technological applications can help organizations address problem solving, reasoning, managing complexity, and troubleshooting.

Writing for the Disciplines

Employers often cite communication skills as one of the most important considering when making hiring decisions. This course will help you develop and hone your communication skills, both written and oral. You will learn how to write in multiple styles (explanatory, analytical, and persuasive) and recognize which style is appropriate for certain situations. Additionally, you will develop skills in effective and persuasive oral presentation.
