Admission Requirements
Teacher Certification or MA Students
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited, state-recognized institution
- Completed application and personal essay
- Three professional letters of recommendation
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended, with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or above on a 4.00 scale
- Passing scores on the Illinois Basic Skills Test (Teacher Certification students only)
- GRE or MAT test scores (M.A. students only)
- Personal Interview
Master of Arts with Teacher Certification (combined) Students
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited, state-recognized institution
- Completed application and personal essay
- Three professional letters of recommendation
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended, with a 2.75 overall grade point average and a 3.0 in their major content area
- Passing scores on the Illinois Basic Skills Test
- GRE or MAT test scores
- Personal Interview
Endorsement Program Students
- Completed application
- Official transcripts from college and/or universities where you completed or are currently pursuing your teacher education program
- Completion of or in the process of completing a recognized teacher education program
International Students
- In addition to the above requirements, international students seeking certification must also submit:
- A bank statement from a source of support
- A certificate of finance
- An evaluation of non-U.S. transcripts by Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE) or its equivalent
- Immunization record
- Official TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language) score
- Students working from a deficiency statement
- Completed application
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
- Copy of deficiency statement
