State of Illinois Teacher Certification
All School of Education students, undergraduate, graduate and post-bachelor non-degree students, have requirements to fulfill in three areas: course work, clinical experiences and tests.
The Illinois State Board of Education specifies three areas of course work for teacher certification: General Education Courses, Subject Area Courses and Teacher Preparation Courses.
All teacher candidates are required to successfully complete three distinct clinical experiences: Teacher Aiding, Mini-Teaching and Student Teaching.
Candidates for teacher certification must take and pass three tests required by the Illinois State Board of Education at specific points in their program.
