Rebecca Ryan

Dr. Rebecca Ryan has taught a variety of courses in the School of Music, Art, and Theatre, and co-led the Chamber Music program. In addition to her role as interim dean, Ryan also serves as chair of the Music department.

As interim dean, Ryan interacts with professional musicians from all over Chicago. One thing she enjoys most about her job is meeting and talking with prospective students to help them find their place at North Park. She meets students who will be music majors and those who won’t but who still love music, art, and theatre. “It is a privilege to spend time talking about music, art, and theatre with students,” she says.

Ryan has performed with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Symphony Chorus, Florentine Opera, and others. Her signature operatic roles include Dorabella, Serse, Hansel, Orlofsky, and Flora, among others. Ryan is a former board member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing—Chicago Chapter and currently serves as president of the Association of Illinois Music Schools.
