International Students

Graduate Nursing Program Applicants

International students wishing to pursue studies at North Park University should note the following:

International students on an F1 visa must adhere to all federal requirements while a student at North Park University, including maintaining minimum course loads (full-time study) and not working in an off-campus job.

Because of these federal restrictions, prospective graduate nursing students should be aware of several important factors that may impact their ability to comply with federal requirements:

  • MS applicants are required to hold an active RN license to practice in the state of Illinois. In addition, two years of work experience are required for admission to the master's program. Furthermore, MS applicants are required to provide letters of recommendation from their supervisors at work to comply with admission requirements.
  • MS students starting their practicum courses are required to comply with licensing regulations in the state of Illinois and minimum work experience necessary to avoid liability issues at clinical sites.
  • The MS program in the School of Nursing at North Park is a part-time program, which may impact the student's ability to comply with full-time study federal requirements in order to maintain their F1 visa status.
  • The MS program does not currently offer the opportunity to complete Curricular Practical Training (CPT).

BS Completion Program Applicants

International students who hold an RN license to practice in Illinois and wish to complete their baccalaureate at North Park need to submit the following, in addition to general admission requirements:

  • Completed Financial Resources Statement
  • Bank statement, showing available funds for school and living expenses
  • Clear copy of passport photo page
  • Clear copy of passport visa page
  • Copy of I-94 form
  • Copy of past I-20 forms
  • Copy of EAD, if applicable
  • Home country contact information
  • Immunization record

If the applicant has studied outside of the United States, an evaluation of foreign transcripts by Educational Credential Evaluators or World Education Services is also needed to comply with admission requirements to the BS completion program at North Park University.

English Language Proficiency

International students must demonstrate adequate fluency in English by providing official scores of a standardized language test, such as TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). International students who have completed studies at another college or university within the U.S. may not need to submit TOEFL scores.
