Art Resources and Opportunities In Chicago
Students are exposed to some of the world’s best museums, such as the Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Photography.
Numerous art exhibitions and events held in the Chicago gallery districts serve to provide students with forms of creative engagement and enrichment.
Students will also benefit from outdoor art fairs and international art expositions such as the Chicago International Art Exhibition, SOFA, Art Chicago and the Chicago International New Forms Exhibition.
An array of public sculpture by historic artists like Calder, Chagall, Miro, Picasso can be easily spotted within the Chicago city limits.
Excellent internship opportunities at local artist's studios, advertising agencies, public relations firms, commercial photography studios, publishers, and other businesses that need artists also exist for students. Opportunities range from working one-on-one with faculty to internships with businesses and institutions
Opportunities at North Park University
The study abroad program is available to students interested in traveling overseas for a period of study. This experience at partnering institution is both academically enriching and culturally rewarding.
The Art Club, a student-run forum is a great avenue for art students to socialize and network. Some club events include local art excursions and students-organized exhibitions.
Carlson Tower Gallery provides students with the opportunity to view works by established and emerging artists. Students also have an opportunity to exhibit works produced while at North Park.
The Art faculty provides inspiration to students through their active art practice and exhibition records in recognized museums and galleries.
Opportunities of working one-on-one with faculty exist. Student Interns can be attached to faculty to work together on projects such as professional journals, paintings, sculpture, and installations.
Work-study positions including gallery assistants, woodshop monitors, labs assistants and building monitors are available to students.
