Tropical Ecology of Costa Rica

Professor Al Bjorkman leads up to 14 students in travel to the Central American country of Costa Rica. Students travel by bus, foot, and boat to visit a wide range of ecosystems from Lowland Pacific Rainforest, Cloud Forest, and volcanoes to Mangrove wetlands. Students learn about an unusual country with no army, a stable democracy, and a world class commitment to conservation and eco-tourism. Spanish language independent study credit is also available.

The next trip is scheduled for the spring of 2012. Students must apply to Prof. Bjorkman to participate, and will then register for a two-credit Quad A course before heading to Costa Rica over spring break.
