Internships and Offerings
One of the most notable attributes of the Theatre and Performance concentration at North Park is a commitment to exposing our students to the world of theatre outside of the classroom. The following is a growing list where our students have been involved in internships: The Lookingglass, Goodman Theatre, Stage Left Theatre, Live Bait Theater, Barrel of Monkeys, Lucky Pierre.
Los Angeles Film Center
Offered through the Coalition for Christian Colleges and Universities, the LAFSC is located in Hollywood, Calif., and offers a one-semester program for upper-division students who are interested in the work and workings of the mainstream Hollywood film industry. Courses include: LA 3510 Inside Hollywood: The Work and Workings of the Film Industry; LA 3520 Screenwriting; LA 3530 Faith, Film, and Culture: Christian Perspectives on the Nature and Influence of Film; LA 3540 Introduction to Filmmaking; LA 3560 Seminar in Producing the Independent Film; LA 4970 Internships. Courses offer 1-3 hours credit. Students must apply both to North Park and LAFC. See the department chair for further information.
Honors
For Departmental Honors in Communication Arts, the prospective student's proposal must be submitted by May 1 of the student's third year, with the work commencing in the fall semester of the fourth year. Students should enroll in COMM 4000 for 8 sh: 4 sh fall semester and 4 sh spring semester. Only 4 sh may be included in the total course requirements for the major.
