The North Park Dialogue
One of the goals of learning at college is to be broadly educated, to become familiar with many dimensions of life. At North Park University, this process begins with the North Park Dialogue, a series of three courses focused on some of the most powerful and compelling questions that humankind has ever faced.
Taken over your first three years, these seminar-structured courses cross academic disciplines, engage the perspectives of many cultures, and emphasize writing and critical analysis.
First- and Second-Year Topics
- “Who am I?”
- “Why should I be ethical?”
Examples of Third-Year Topics
- “Who is my neighbor?”
- “Who is God?”
- “What is Truth?”
Questions such as these have formed the cornerstone of philosophical, theological, and ethical inquiry for centuries. By reflecting on these questions, you not only become an active part of scholarly tradition, you also develop key critical-thinking skills and insights necessary for successful and meaningful lives. Dialogue encourages you to explore your own beliefs, deepen your own commitments, and find new ways of expressing ideas and thoughts to others.
