The Meaning of a North Park Education
A North Park University education seeks to teach and form the student as a whole person in all their rich complexity, and provide them with the skills and wisdom to lead a life of significance and service in a diverse and changing world.
The general education program is the part of undergraduate’s education shared by all students and contributes to their achievement of the shared educational outcomes. Its design is foundational for all areas of your study and future vocation, and offers you and your faculty the opportunity to explore the meaning of human experience and history, culture and diversity, scientific knowledge, and religious faith.
As a program, and not merely a set of required courses, general education at North Park embodies the spirit behind the entire student experience in an academic institution, as both curricular and co-curricular activities further the distinct educational mission of North Park. As a result of successfully completing North Park’s general education program, a student should be able to demonstrate the following elements of learning:
- Knowledge of human cultures, the natural world, and the Christian faith
- Skills for a life of significance and service
- Values of personal character, social responsibility, and spiritual identity
- Integrative and applied learning
