Prof. Lin received his B.S. (Mechanical Engineering) and M.S. (Civil Engineering-Water Resources) from Stanford University, and his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from UCLA. He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Colorado-Boulder and the University of Chicago. His area of research is tropical and Arctic climate dynamics, and his favorite ice creams are daiquiri ice and French vanilla.
