Math Placement Examination
- First year students: All students will be required, regardless of major.
- Transfer student, non-science major: If a transfer student has already met the Math GE requirement, we will not require the student to take the placement exam. If a transfer student has not met the Math GE requirement, we will require the student to take the placement exam.
- Transfer student, science-major: The student is required to take the examination.
Students are initially placed in a math course based on the following criteria.

MATH 1010 A prerequisite for the Mathematics General Education requirement |
ACT mathematics subscore of 19-24 SAT mathematics subscore is 440-510 or below |
MATH 1030 Note: Recommended if the student does not intend to take any more math courses |
ACT mathematics subscore is 25 or above SAT mathematics subscore is 511 or above |
MATH 1150 Recommended if the student has had 2 years of high school algebra and l year of high school geometry |
ACT mathematics subscore is 25 or above or SAT mathematics subscore is 511 or above |
MATH 1510 Recommended if the student has had 4 years of high school mathematics including trigonometry and precalculus |
ACT mathematics subscore is 25 or above or SAT mathematics subscore is 511 or above |

Student has had Advanced Placement calculus (B/C) with a grade of C or better in addition to having passed MATH 1510 or its equivalent |
STAT 1490 May be required for certain majors |
