Preparing for College

The North Park University Office of Undergraduate Admissions recommends beginning to prepare for college as early as possible. Many decisions made long before a high school student’s senior year will affect the ability of that student to be accepted into college and to qualify for scholarships.

Tests

North Park University accepts the ACT and the SAT and uses the best test score in making admission decisions and in awarding academic scholarships. We consider (but do not require) the writing components.

We recommend preparing for standardized tests by using one of the test preparation books you can purchase at a bookstore (complete with DVD/CD sample tests) or taking one of the modestly priced test preparation courses many high schools offer.

Outside Scholarships

Some students find and apply for outside scholarships. Your high school guidance office is a great place to start in your search. Another helpful tool is Fastweb, a free online scholarship search. North Park will not take away University scholarships and grants if you receive an outside scholarship. In a few instances an outside scholarship may decrease your eligibility for loans or work-study.

A growing number visit during their freshmen and sophomore years, and a significant number of students are visiting a second or third time before they make their final decision.
