President David L. Parkyn introduces this issue of the North Parker with a reflection on how the President's Interfaith and Community Service Challenge will strengthen the education offered through our programs and activities while working hand-in-hand with Campaign North Park to propel us toward greater goals.
North Park welcomes three new deans: Dr. Linda Duncan in the School of Nursing, Dr. Bryan Watkins in the School of Adult Learning, and Dr. Craig Johnson in the School of Music.
North Park's new First Year Experience program is designed to help new students transition smoothly in academics and community life at North Park. Voyage incorporates signature events and opportunities, as well as some new workshops and events designed specifically for first-year students.
Rev. James Hawkinson exemplified a life of significance as a Covenant pastor, administrator, father, and friend.
North Park University looks to the future — to more years of fulfilling its important mission of preparing students for lives of significance and service. Campaign North Park is dedicated to continuing this mission in significant ways, through new facilities, scholarships, enrichment opportunities, and strengthening the Annual Fund.
At the time of publication, $30 million has been committed to the new Science and Community Life Building, with more commitments toward the goals of increased scholarship funding, supporting student and faculty enrichment, and ensuring a strong Annual Fund. $42 million of Campaign North Park's goal is earmarked for the construction of this new building, providing North Park students state-of-the-art science facilities, new spaces for connecting and socializing, and offices for programs supporting co-curricular learning, spiritual growth, vocational development, urban engagement, and campus life.
