University Mourns Loss of Former President Lloyd Ahlem
Dr. Lloyd Ahlem C'48 passed away September 29 at age 83. As College and Seminary president from 1970 to 1979, Ahlem provided direction as North Park established a foundation for its four-year undergraduate curriculum, began to admit women to its master of divinity program, and affirmed its urban identity.
North Park Community Remembers Richard W. Carlson
Beloved Seminary professor Richard W. Carlson C’62 died July 26 after a long battle with esophageal cancer. Carlson oversaw field education for the Seminary for over 25 years and was instrumental in the founding of the C. John Weborg Center for Spiritual Direction.
North Park Begins 2013-2014 Academic Year
President David L. Parkyn presided over our annual fall convocation, recognizing the achievements of faculty during the past year and marking the beginning of a new academic year.

Among those introduced to the campus community this fall was Dr. Jodi Koslow Martin, vice president for student engagement, who will oversee a variety of programs supporting student growth and development.
Volleyball Player Earns National Rankings
Vikings outside hitter Shelby Switzer enjoyed a phenomenal senior season, ranking in the top 10 in NCAA Division III in three major statistical categories and setting several North Park University records along the way.
Campus Theme Asks, "What is Peace?"
The 2013-2014 Campus Theme welcomes authors, activists, ministers, and other thought leaders North Park University to address the question, "What is peace?"
University Hosts CPS Summer Writing Camp
The University's Writing Center partnered with Chicago Public Schools to host a summer writing camp designed to help prepare area students for the college application process.
