Donations and Transfers
We welcome donations of material related to the history of North Park University and Theological Seminary, the Evangelical Covenant Church, and the Swedish-American experience in the Chicago area. Of particular interest to us are the official records of the above institutions, personal papers of families and individuals active in our histories, and records of Chicago-area businesses, clubs, organizations and persons active in the Swedish-American Chicago community.
Donations come from alumni, members of the North Park University community, members of the greater Swedish-American community, and the general public. We build much our collection through the generous donations from individuals, families, and organizations who are interested in preserving our history. We appreciate your support, and ask you to contact us if you have any items that you wish to donate to the Archives.
The Archivist will first discuss the material with you, to establish if it is appropriate to one of our various collections and to determine if we are able to accept the material at this time. We will then send you the appropriate forms. The Archives can only accept donations after consultation with staff and by legal Deed of Gift. For more information on donations to Archives, please read the helpful brochure published by the Society of American Archivists.
Transfers of Administrative Records
Offices and departments of North Park University and the Evangelical Covenant Church will find it necessary to transfer administrative records to the Archives from time to time. Currently there is no set schedule of records transfer for any office. The director will gladly consult with you to help determine which material should be transferred. Please contact the Archives for a consultation or/and to arrange the transfer of records.
Download guidelines recommended by the archives for managing and transferring records.
A Transfer of Records Form must accompany all records received by the Archives.
