The Financial Aid Process
- The only form that we require to be considered for all federal and state aid, including student loans, is the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Our school code is 001735. You (and your parent, if you are a dependent student) will need a PIN to sign your form electronically. If you are transferring from another institution, you don't need to redo the FAFSA. Just add our school code to your existing form, and we will receive your information. The FAFSA must be completed on an annual basis if you want to be eligible for federal/state financial aid, including student loans.
- Once you file your FAFSA, you will be able to review your information in the form of a Student Aid Report (SAR). Look it over and make sure the information listed is correct. If you need to make any corrections to your information, do so online. As long as North Park is listed on your FAFSA, we will receive your information electronically.
- Approximately 30% of our students are selected for a process called verification. If you are selected for verification, you will be contacted by the Financial Aid Office requesting additional documents from you (and your spouse/parent(s)). A financial aid package will not be created for you until you have completed verification.
- Once we have received a valid FAFSA (and you have completed verification, if applicable), we will send you a financial aid package with information about the types of aid for which you qualify. You will be able to view this information online through Web Advisor.
Maintaining Your Eligibility for Financial Aid
Your registration/course work can impact your eligibility for financial aid. If you are a traditional undergraduate student, you must be registered for at least 12 credit hours/semester to keep your institutional aid. If you drop below 12 hours/semester, your federal aid will be reduced. You must be enrolled for at least six hours/semester to keep your student loans. If you are an Illinois resident receiving the Map Grant, you must be enrolled for 15 hours to receive your full award.
Graduate students must be enrolled for at least four credit hours/semester to receive federal loans.
You must also maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.
If a portion of your institutional need-based financial aid was awarded because you were expected to live on-campus, and you do not reside in on-campus housing, then your financial aid will be reduced up to $2500 a year.
The Financial Aid Office at North Park University is committed to serving our students and their families in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.
