Earned Income and Pricing Strategies

Jean Hardy Robinson, Management Consultant, JHR Resources, Inc

Pricing services is key to any exchange between customer and company, client and service provider. Knowing costs and setting realistic prices are necessary for any nonprofit organization that seeks to increase earned income or plans to launch a social enterprise venture. This session will introduce the concepts that need to be understood and the steps that need to be taken if your organization is pricing services or products or considering a social enterprise. Designed for the “non-accounting” major, nonprofit practitioners will leave the session with knowledge about the financial due diligence process needed prior to giving a green light to a social enterprise venture

This session will include:
1) Tools to assess if your nonprofit is “business-ready” to enter into an earned income strategy?
2) Hands-on exercises on how to shift your organization from providing services without knowing costs or value to a pricing system that is based on cost-accounting and market research.

Writing for the Web

Caleb Gardner, Marketing and Public Relations Manager, North Park University

When putting together a website or social media campaign, copy is one of the most crucial and one of the most overlooked aspects. Instead of importing text straight from print materials to the web, smart organizations think as strategically about the words they choose as they do about their site design.
This workshop will cover the basic tenants of writing strategic online content. We will cover the important dos and don’ts that will make both your website and your social media initiatives more compelling and effective.
