How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love Social Media

New Workshop

Is your organization using Facebook, Twitter and blogs, but wondering to what end? Are staff members overwhelmed by new responsibilities? Are board members asking, “Is it worth it?”

In this workshop, we’ll look at how to determine if your social media strategy is working -- and how to keep up momentum. We’ll also demo free social media monitoring tools that track stories and show who’s talking about your organization across multiple platforms. You’ll leave with your own personalized dashboard that will help you to communicate effectively and efficiently.

Note: Computers will be available for all participants. Please create a Google account in advance of the class and remember your username and password.

Instructor

Christine Cupaiuolo, Blogger and Nonprofit Media Consultant

Christine Cupaiuolo is a writer, editor and consultant with a decade of online media experience. She currently covers women's health and politics for Our Bodies Ourselves, writes longer articles on occasion for local and national publications, and helps nonprofit organizations figure out how to make the most of blogs and social media.

Christine previously worked as an award-winning newspaper reporter covering government and politics (and a surprising number of murders), and as a researcher for C-SPAN's Brian Lamb. She founded the online magazine PopPolitics.com in 2000, and she later created and wrote Ms. magazine's popular daily blog on women and media — becoming one of the first bloggers to write for a national magazine — and worked as Ms.' online editor. For the past five years, she has been advising organizations on how to tell their stories using new media tools.

She enjoys presenting at conferences and teaching workshops, as well as working with individuals and groups on all types of writing projects. Visit her website.
