Spam and Antivirus

North Park hosted email accounts are protected by a gateway that scans all incoming email for spam emails, phishing emails, viruses, and forbidden attachments.

The spam.northpark.edu spam gateway website allows you to manage your mailbox filtering settings online, and by default it will send a weekly quarantine report email containing a list of blocked items. At that website, you can change how often you receive spam reports, set email addresses to always allow, always block, and view and release your quarantined items.

Our spam filter is set to a high intercept level, so check your report carefully. The gateway forbids certain attachments deemed security risks, including .exe, .com, .bat, .pif, and others. Files that are forbidden or contain viruses may not be released. You can now block messages based upon language as well. The complete user manual is available for download.
