North Park University Writing Center Textbook Assistance

Textbook Assistance Program

Application Deadlines

The deadline for applications for the spring, 2010 semester has passed.

Overview

In an attempt to assist our students in their academic endeavors, North Park University strives to provide students with the tools necessary to succeed in a college environment. Toward achieving this goal and based on a student's demonstrated financial need, the Department of Student Development, with partial funding from Student Association, will purchase some and/or all of the required textbooks of selected undergraduate students. These textbooks are to be returned at the conclusion of the courses for which the text is being utilized.

Eligibility

Students must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Have a full-time schedule - 12 or more credit hours.
  • Documented financial hardship. Center for Academic Services will contact Financial Aid and Student Accounts to confirm the student's financial need.
  • Submit an application and essay by the designated due date of the Fall and Spring semester of each academic year. The essay should include a description of the student's present financial circumstances and/or any obstacles that have prevented the student from purchasing the required textbooks.
  • Submit a list of textbooks needed, listing the cost of each text. Please note that when requesting a text, you are stating that you cannot obtain the text from any other source.

Responsibilities of the Student

If a student is chosen to receive textbook assistance, the following will be required of the student:

  • No direct funds for textbook assistance will be issued. Textbooks will be purchased by the Center for Academic Services.
  • Return the textbooks at the completion of the course and/or the end of the semester. In the event that a textbook is not returned, the student will then become responsible for the cost of the book and consequently, will not be eligible for textbook assistance during the rest of their tenure as a student at North Park.

If you have any further questions about the Textbook Assistance Program, please contact the Center for Academic Services and we will respond to your inquiry.
