During our new-student orientation weekend, we'll make sure you have plenty of time to relax, get to know your new classmates, and explore our campus and community as you transition into life at North Park.

Thursday, August 21: International Student Events 

This day's events are for international students only.

Friday, August 22: Welcome and Move-In Day

Resident Students: Welcome Tent — Mandatory

Tent In Front of Old Main

New resident students must check in at the Welcome Tent before going to their assigned campus housing. Students will pick up their welcome packet and the head to Hamming Hall.

Hamming Hall

New Students will get their student ID, pay their bill, and check in with the Residence Life and Housing Office before heading to their assigned housing.

Important: Student ID — Students must be registered for classes to receive an ID. Student IDs are needed for access into campus buildings. Students arriving prior to August 22 must obtain an ID from the front desk on the first floor of the Student Services building.

8:00–11:30 am

Move-In: Residence Halls Open for New Students

If you are living on campus, you must check in at the Welcome Tent and Hamming Hall before going to your assigned housing.

11:30 am–Noon

Commuter Students: Welcome Center and Registration — Mandatory

Welcome Tent & Hamming Hall

New commuter students must check in at  the Welcome Tent and then head Hamming Hall. Students will pick up their welcome packet, student ID, class schedule, and pay their bill.

Commuter Student Welcome Event

The Hump (outside in the center of campus)

Enjoy snacks and mingling with other commuter students and the Threshold staff.

Don’t have a car? Transportation will be provided so you can stock up for the semester at area stores: Target, Best Buy, Jewel-Osco supermarket and pharmacy, and OfficeMax. Space is limited; please sign up at Hamming Hall during Registration on Friday.

Chicago Photo Scavenger Hunt

Meet in Carlson Tower Lobby

You don't want to miss this afternoon downtown! Meet up with Threshold staff and then take public transportation in pursuit of great Chicago sights. Pictures are worth a thousand words — and your memories from this adventure really will last a lifetime. Bring money with you for food and incidentals. Transportation will be provided.

Millennium Park

Enjoy Cloud’s Gate—affectionately known as “the Bean”—and Millennium Park at night. You can also go ice skating at the Millennium Park rink; skate rentals cost $10.

Monday, August 25: Classes Begin

Threshold continues throughout the first week of classes. Plan on meeting up with your CREW Group each night for dinner and evening events! Threshold staff are available to answer your questions.
