Wednesday Events

Commuter Student Welcome and Coffee — LHA

Commuter students are an important part of our campus community. Take this chance to get to know each other better, and get to know some of the faculty and staff you'll see when you're on campus.

Resident Student Lunch — On Your Own

There are many great restaurants in the neighborhood to enjoy with your family and friends. Check them out online or ask for a list and map at the Welcome Tent. Student with a meal plan may also eat in Aramark Dining Hall, but parents and other guests will need to pay for their lunches if they choose to join their student there.

Welcome Picnic — In front of Wilson Hall

Free for all students, parents, and families
Dine in the "park" that gives us our middle name. Eat alongside your fellow new students, their families, faculty, and staff while you enjoy one of the campus's favorite outdoor locations.

The Financial Aid team invites you to enjoy a morning round of bingo and a tasty bagel before diving into your challenge exams and other activities of the day. Prizes for the winners!

First Generation Student Social — Carlson Tower Lobby

Get to know other students who are the first in their families to head to college.

Speed Friending — In front of Wilson Hall

Yes, it's a new take on speed dating — but lighthearted and lots of fun! Bring your sense of adventure and your sense of humor.

Live Band Karaoke — In front of Wilson Hall

Yes, this is as awesome as it sounds. Take advantage of the chance to make a name for yourself as "that awesome karaoke singer." Cheer for your friends, make new friends, enjoy our beautiful campus late into the evening. Grab your roommate, your CREW group, and all your new friends — this is one event you don't want to miss!

You've been getting a lot of information about life at North Park so take a little break and enjoy a cold treat on us before jumping back in.

River Dance Party — Carlson Tower Patio

7:00 pm

Your first weekend at North Park officially starts now! Mingle with your new classmates and CREW group leaders on the shores of our own little river, the North Branch. You won't find yourself on the Carlson Patio too many times, so don't miss the view while you've got the chance.

Shopping Trips — Meet in Hamming Hall

Need some more pencils or a case of diet soda to get you through the first week? Looking for some crazy, fun clothes to wear around campus? Seasoned North Parkers will take you to Target and the Village Discount thrift store (popularly known simply as "The Village").

You don't want to miss this afternoon downtown! Meet up with your CREW Group in Hamming Hall and choose from a variety of fun activities downtown and throughout the city.

Double-Decker Bus Tour — Downtown Chicago

7:30 pm

Join your CREW Group to experience the city from a new height.

Navy Pier Fireworks — Chicago's Navy Pier

10:00 pm

At the end of your afternoon adventure and bus tour, walk over to Navy Pier with your CREW Group and friends to catch the free Saturday fireworks. This Chicago tradition really is a sight to behold. And be sure to cheer extra-loudly for all the blue and gold in the sky.

Java Haus Open — Basement of Burgh Hall

10:00 pm

This popular student hang-out and coffee shop opens its doors for the first time of the semester. Grab a soda or a cup of coffee, chat with your friends, play a board game, or just people watch.



Sunday Events

Splash Mania — The Hump

1:00 pm

Water slides, water balloon fights, dunk your CREW Group Leaders... it's a massive water fight on campus and you don't want to miss it!

SGA's Taste of Albany Park — Carlson Gymnasium

The dining hall is closed on Sunday evenings, so head over to the gymnasium to sample the multi-ethnic cuisine of our surrounding neighborhood, courtesy of the Student Government Association, with desserts provided by University Ministries.
