North Park Athletics Homepage

Features include enhanced content, live streaming and stats

CHICAGO (December 1, 2011) – Fans of North Park University athletics are seeing a new website featuring their favorite Vikings teams and news about the University's athletic program. The new website went online Nov. 15 after months of planning and technical work to build it.

"The new athletics website gives students a way to experience our teams in action, get in-depth information and follow our teams throughout the year," said Nate Mouttet, North Park University vice president for marketing and enrollment. "The benefits will go far beyond students, as alumni and friends of the University will be able to enjoy the features of the new site. This is a great next step for North Park athletics."

Dr. Jack Surridge, North Park University director of athletics, said the new site is both dramatic and functional. "It provides our alumni, potential recruits and even the casually interested many more avenues to learn about Vikings athletic programs, and also to communicate with us through email, Facebook or Twitter. I am really excited about the video streaming capabilities for our fans."

The new site offers a number of enhancements to viewers:

  • Integrated live streaming of audio and video capabilities
  • Background images can be changed and updated regularly on web pages
  • Visual enhancements to showcase photographs
  • Videos can be added throughout the site
  • Live stats can be displayed with athletes' photographs
  • Stats can be displayed on mobile phones
  • Visitors can be surveyed through "quick polls"

The website was constructed by staff with North Park University Marketing and Communications, and the Sports Information staff with the University Athletic Department.

The new site was designed on a platform called SIDEARM (Sports Information Distribution Engine and Records Management). The platform is a collegiate athletic Web-based content management system that features a number of functions to enhance various sports, according to the company website. SIDEARM Sports, Syracuse, N.Y., has nearly 500 collegiate athletic clients throughout the United States.
