Joseph Jones Named Provost
CHICAGO, IL (May 18, 2007) - North Park University is pleased to announce that Joseph Jones, Ph.D., dean of the School of Education and Social Sciences at Messiah College in Grantham, Pa., has been named provost of North Park University at the unanimous recommendation of the provost search committee and the invitation of President David Parkyn.
According to a campus memorandum issued by President Parkyn this morning, "Dr. Jones has a distinguished career as a faculty member and academic administrator. His interest in and commitment to Christian, urban, and multicultural education will serve North Park very well."
Dr. Jones holds a B.A. in psychology from Colby College (Waterville, Maine), an M.S. in psychology from Oklahoma State Univeristy (Stillwater, Ok.), and a Ph.D. in criminal justice from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany. His areas of academic expertise include community engagement and revitalization, program evaluation, organizational effectiveness, leadership development, and restorative justice.
Dr. Jones and his wife, Yvette, will soon move to Chicago and he will begin his appointment at North Park mid-summer.
