Sinovic Gains Valuable Experience With Pro Soccer Team

Adam Sinovic

CHICAGO, IL (March 5, 2007) – Although he was a senior on the 2006 North Park men’s soccer team, midfielder Adam Sinovic extended his final year of playing just a few more months.

After an illustrious collegiate career where he led the Vikings to three straight conference championships and was also selected All Conference three times, Sinovic attended the InfoSport professional soccer combine in Florida. He showcased his skills for professional coaches of all levels. This past week (Feb. 26-March 2) Sinovic was invited to practice with the Chicago Storm professional soccer team in the hopes of being drafted for the 2007-2008 team.

“Basically I was just thrown in to practice. They singled me out and kept me in an all-offense role to see what I could do,” Sinovic said. “It was odd though because coach (John Born) said that he talked to the GM and he said that I had an amazing first day and I tailed off the second two days. But I thought it was the opposite. Overall though, I thought it was a great experience and great competition.”

Sinovic, who led the Vikings in shot on goal percentage (.467) and was in the top-ten in points (6), assists (2) and shots (15) this past season, took part in the tryout during the Storm’s practices at the SportsZone in Rosemont.

“It was different in the sense that I was the new guy,” Sinovic said. “After starting (at North Park) since day one I became the new guy on the new team. I felt like a freshman, but it was fun.”

Getting adjusted to the smaller indoor field was somewhat difficult for Sinovic, but once he was more comfortable, it was fun and fast-paced for the Leawood, Kansas native.

“I think I’m more suited for the outdoor game because there’s a completely different approach,” Sinovic said. “In the indoor game there’s no out of bounds it’s just surrounded by walls so that made it a little rough at first.”

That still didn’t deter Sinovic’s spirits though especially with all the useful knowledge he gained from the experience.

“When I came to North Park, I didn’t expect that I’d have a chance to play professionally, but it’s exciting to think about that I had that chance,” Sinovic said. “That’s a refreshing thought coming from a smaller school.”

Sinovic graduated in December 2006 with a finance major and 3.3 grade point average.
