Viking Kids Day Brings Inner-City Kids to North Park's Campus

CHICAGO, IL (November 4, 2007) – Seventy-five at-risk children from the inner-city Cabrini-Green housing project had a thrilling day at North Park University when they were hosted by University Ministry's Urban Outreach program.

The children attended the Vikings football game and flashed huge smiles as they received footballs, t-shirts, and autographs from the players. They also enjoyed pizza and a chance to play on the campus.

North Park students already had formed relationships with the children by participating weekly in a tutoring program through Urban Outreach. The students chaperoned the children throughout the day.

"This is one of the ways University Ministries is seeking to embrace and serve our urban neighbors here in Chicago," says director Rich Johnson.
