North Parkers Come Home

CHICAGO, IL (August 20, 2008) - In his State of University Address President David L. Parkyn welcomed North Park faculty and staff back as they came together for the University Gathering Day to celebrate a new season in the life of the North Park community. “For each of us it has been a good summer…yet we’re also pleased to be back with the North Park family. Welcome home,” Parkyn said.

Parkyn also welcomed the new faculty and staff who have joined the North Park community, “This community may not yet feel like ‘home’ to you but we certainly hope that it soon will. We’re delighted you’ve chosen to be part of North Park.”

While most faculty and staff gathered to celebrate the beginning of a new academic year, others were busy welcoming students and families to North Park for various orientation activities taking place around campus. The North Park family life is emphasized as David and Linda Parkyn continued their tradition of welcoming new students and families to campus by driving a campus Golf Cart and delivering water, as well as the North Park football team who were helping students move into their dorms.

Summer almost comes to an end but it is yet a new year for the North Park community as it equips students to lead lives of significance and service.
