Christmas luncheon acknowledges service of faculty and staff
Employees celebrated for their years of service
CHICAGO, IL (December 12, 2008) – North Park University’s annual faculty and staff Christmas celebration was held on Tuesday, December 9, at 11:30 a.m. in Hamming Hall. The event included a buffet luncheon for current as well as retired University employees, followed by an awards ceremony honoring a number of present employees for their years of service. A total of 46 individuals received awards for terms ranging from five years to 45. Employees who had joined the University within the last year were also asked to stand for acknowledgement.
President David Parkyn presented the awards with the help of Director of Human Resources Ingrid Tenglin Jimmar, who was also recognized for 15 years of service. As the celebration concluded, Parkyn praised the University’s foodservice crew, Aramark, for its diligence and adaptability during September’s flooding, which required the temporary relocation of dining services among other inconveniences. The Aramark staff received a standing ovation.
“I pray for God’s special blessings on each of you and your family and loved ones during this Advent season,” Parkyn said at the close of the ceremony. “As we bring the semester to an end we have opportunity for an extended period of rest and refreshment away from our immediate work environment, days to spend with family and friends, days in which to greet with joy the coming of Jesus Christ our Redeemer. May God visit each of us daily, challenging us to a deeper commitment to Him and inspiring us to more loving service within our community, across the city, and around the world. May our hearts be made glad in this yearly festival of the birth of God’s only Son.”
