University employee Wilda Graham receives her master's degree in business

CHICAGO, IL (December 16, 2008) – More than 300 North Park University students received their degrees during the Winter Commencement exercises, which took place on Friday evening, December 12, in the Varsity Gym.

Degrees were conferred on 170 undergraduate and 110 graduate students who had completed course requirements by December, as well as on an additional 39 undergraduate and 25 graduate candidates who finished in August 2008. Nearly 2,000 were on hand for the event—including graduates, faculty, and their supporters—leaving scarcely an empty seat in the house.

The University Choir under the direction of Rollo Dilworth performed two selections, “Arise, Shine!” by Dan Forest, and “Lux Aurumque” by Eric Whitacre, along with a choral benediction. Another highlight of the evening was the recitation of the Aaronic Benediction, based on Numbers 6:24-26: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” It was delivered by seven students in their native languages: Tagalog, Swedish, Polish, Danish, Twi-Akuapem, Spanish, and English.
