Online auction to raise funds for student missions

Student in Thailand

CHICAGO, IL (November 21, 2008) – An online auction has opened to raise funds for North Park University students participating in school-sponsored mission trips.

The auction runs through noon on December 1 and benefits the Global Partnerships program operated by University Ministries. The program works with designated sites around the world with which the school has an ongoing relationship. Teams of students participate in the trips over winter, spring, and summer breaks.

More than 100 items are posted on the auction Web site, and include tickets to Chicago sporting events, international artwork, and clothing.

Donations are still are being accepted. The contributor may request that half the proceeds from the item go to a specific team. The other 50 percent will go into the scholarship fund. Last year, the auction raised $4,000 for scholarships.

This winter, teams will serve in the Gulf Coast, Mexico, and Zambia. In the spring and summer, they will travel to Appalachia, the Gulf Coast, Mexico, Alaska, Bolivia, India, Thailand, and Zambia.
