Participate in Online Auction for Global Partnerships

CHICAGO (December 2, 2009) – From a salmon dinner, to tickets to a U2 concert, to a weekend getaway for six at Pastor Judy’s cabin in Wisconsin, Christmas shoppers can find something for just about everyone on their holiday list at this year’s online auction for Global Partnerships. Not only does the fundraiser offer a variety of products and services for bidders to choose from, but more importantly, it allows them to support service trips for North Park students at locations around the world.
An initiative of University Ministries, Global Partnerships provides students with opportunities for cross-cultural experiences that expand their faith, their views of the world, and their commitment to a lifestyle of justice. Through partnership trips that take place over winter, spring, and summer breaks, students travel all over the world learning, building relationships, and serving. This winter, 30 students will serve in the Gulf Coast, Mexico, and Zambia. In the spring and summer, teams will serve at these and additional sites in Appalachia, Alaska, Ecuador, India, and Thailand.
Each item in the auction supports a specific team, notes Global Partnerships coordinator Julia Styles Hastie. “If you are the final winner, 100 percent of the money for your prize will go directly to the team it was supporting,” she explains. “After the auction has ended, if your name is listed underneath an item, you are the winner of that item.”
