North Park Expands Wireless
CHICAGO, IL (September 13) – As part of its ongoing wireless coverage expansion, the Computer Services department added wireless network coverage in several more residence halls this summer, and all major living areas on campus are now included. North Park's wireless network also covers all campus classrooms, the library, and some outdoor spaces.
“Expanding wireless coverage has been an ongoing process,” says Jeff Lundblad, assistant director of Computer Services. “We know that having wireless access at home is very important to students, so we made it a priority this summer.”
All wireless access points in North Park's wireless network support 802.11a and 802.11g, with many also supporting the latest 802.11n. Instructions for connecting to the wireless network are available on the Computer Services wiki. See a complete list of coverage areas and supported wireless types here.
For the future, Computer Services is planning to add more wireless networks and enhance network security.
