North Park Faculty to Lead Workshops at Triennial XIII in Washington, D.C.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 19, 2010) – North Park University staff and students are playing key roles in Triennial XIII, a gathering of approximately 1,000 women from around the world, to be held July 22–25 in Washington, D.C.
Featured speakers include Lynne Hybels, the wife of Willow Creek Pastor Bill Hybels and author of Nice Girls Don’t Change the World, and former Miss America Kirsten Haglund. The Evangelical Covenant Church’s Department of Women Ministries sponsors the event.
Three university and seminary faculty are leading workshops:
- Linda Parkyn, professor of Spanish, will present “Hospitality and the Church: The Journey from Strangers to Friends.”
- Debra Auger, Seminary dean of students and community life, will lead the seminar on “Marriage and Spirituality.”
- Velda Love, director of the Seminary Center for Justice Ministries, will present “Faith in God Means Reaching Into the Wider World.”
Two Seminary students have served on the planning committee: Kelly Gillan Johnston has served as chair of publicity, and Illeana Garcia-Soto has overseen arrangements for official international guests, including women attending from Colombia, China, the Czech Republic, and India.
