Participation in the Life of the Church

North Park Theological Seminary—faculty, students, and alumni—are active participants in the life and ministry of the ECC. Similarly, we invite the church to participate alongside us as we prepare the next generation of women and men as leaders in congregations, on the mission field, and for the whole denomination.

One important way this occurs is through the Seminary internship program, which often places students in Covenant churches and institutions for summer-, semester-, or year-long experiences. Our Seminary professors regularly preach and teach at the annual Covenant Midwinter Conference and in local Covenant churches, at family camps, and at ministerial retreats. All full-time faculty at North Park Theological Seminary are called and affirmed by the Covenant Annual Meeting.

The Seminary also participates in the thought and theology of the Church. Covenant Affirmations, the statement of Covenant beliefs and values, was produced as a joint project between the school and the church. The North Park Theological Seminary faculty produced the book Living Faith in 2011, which provides further analysis of and reflection on the affirmations. The Covenant Archives, used by pastors and students for historical research, are housed in the Brandel Library. The journal The Covenant Quarterly is edited by Seminary professor Dr. Paul Koptak in association with the denomination.
