Ellen Kogstad-Thompson is the founder and director emeritus of New Moms Inc., an urban ministry serving homeless teen mothers and their children in Chicago since 1983. Since 2008 she has served as their director of spiritual formation while also teaching as an adjunct professor of spiritual formation at North Park Theological Seminary.

Ellen was also a member of the team that established the C. John Weborg Center for Spiritual Direction. She now serves as the director of this center and teaches many of the spiritual formation classes for all Seminary students.

In private practice, Ellen offers the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, teaches the Enneagram, provides spiritual direction, and gives presentations on prayer and spiritual formation.
