Lectureships
The North Park Theological Seminary community is proud to welcome a number of guests each year who offer scholarship and challenge around a variety of theological topics.
The Nils W. Lund Memorial Lectureship
Each autumn one or more distinguished biblical scholars come to North Park Theological Seminary to focus on current developments in biblical studies and their relationship to the task of preaching. The Lund Memorial Scholarship was founded by Hugo A. Anderson in 1960, in memory of Dr. Nils W. Lund, dean and biblical scholar at the Seminary from 1922-1954.
The David Nyvall Lectureship
The David Nyvall Lectureship was inaugurated in 1951 in memory of the pioneer Swedish American educator who served the school both as teacher and president. The theme of this spring lecture series is the interpretation of the Christian message for the contemporary world.
The Carl G. Westerdahl Lectureship in Evangelism
An endowment by the Westerdahl family established this series in 1964 in memory of the late Reverend Carl G. Westerdahl, noted Covenant preacher and evangelist. The first series of lectures was presented in the winter quarter of 1966.
The A. Eldon Palmquist Lectureship in Preaching
This lectureship was established in 1985 by the family of the late Rev. A. Eldon Palmquist, Covenant pastor and conference superintendent, in recognition of his lively, grace-filled preaching, his interest in education, and his loyalty and devotion to the cause of Christ. The first lectureship was presented in 1987.
