Degree and Certificate Options
North Park Theological Seminary offers four master's degrees that encompass the full range of preparation for ministry and theological scholarship. Three of the four degrees may be completed from a distance, through a combination of online and residential intensive courses. Each of the degrees may also be combined with one of three degrees from the School of Business and Nonprofit Management in the dual-degree program. Twelve certificate options provide options for concentrated study in topics relevant to ministry all over the world.
Master of divinity students at North Park often serve as parish pastors after completing their degrees. This program leads to ordination in the Evangelical Covenant Church
, and prepares students for lives of service in teaching, preaching, leading, and caring for congregations.
The master of arts in Christian formation (MACF) degree prepares students to serve in a variety of roles in congregations and other organizations, encouraging individuals to deepen their relationships with Christ and be open to the work of the Holy Spirit. It may lead to Ordination to Specialized Ministry in the ECC
The master of arts in Christian ministry (MACM) is a ministry-oriented degree for students desiring additional training in theological disciplines particular ministry areas. As the most flexible master's degree offered at NPTS, it is designed for students currently serving in ministry.
The master of arts in theological studies (MATS) degree is designed for students with a focus on graduate theological studies instead of ministerial studies. Practical ministry experience is replaced with a thesis project or exams. Often, MATS graduates will continue on to doctoral studies in theology.
North Park Theological Seminary and the School of Business and Nonprofit Management
have teamed up to provide a dual-degree option: earn both a Seminary degree and a business or nonprofit master's degree. This is a popular choice for students who feel a call to social service or parachurch ministries.
North Park Theological Seminary offers a variety of certificate programs for individuals interested in exploring specific ministry areas more deeply. The twelve certificate options include youth ministry, urban ministry, Covenant identity, and the Certificate in Spiritual Direction from the C. John Weborg Center for Spiritual Direction
North Park's doctor of ministry in preaching (DMin) degree is offered through a collaborative program with other seminaries in the Chicago area.
