Student Health Insurance

All North Park Theological Seminary students enrolled for more than 6 credit hours will be automatically billed for health insurance through the NPU health insurance program. Those with outside insurance coverage must submit a waiver each September to University Student Administrative Services or they will be required to pay for the North Park insurance.

North Park University Health Center and Counseling Services

Seminary students have access to the North Park University Health Center and Counseling Services, located on Foster Avenue between Spaulding and Christiana avenues. A nurse is available for students during some weekday business hours and and referrals can be made to see a doctor at the Swedish Covenant Hospital Family Practice, located on California Ave., 1/2 block south of Foster.

Swedish Covenant Hospital Family Practice Center

Swedish Covenant Hospital was founded in 1886 by the Evangelical Covenant Church and serves a diverse population on Chicago's north side. Services at the Family Practice Center are available to North Park Theological Seminary families at a 25% discount. Same day appointments can usually be accommodated. Prenatal packages and follow-up visits are offered at a reduced price. Swedish Covenant Hospital has comprehensive family health care services. Helwig Recreational Center

All seminary students are encouraged to use Helwig Recreational Center, on the corner of Kedzie and Carmen. Helwig is a state of the art facility that offers an indoor track, fitness equipment, indoor courts and a practice field. Many other classes and programs are available. Seminary Spouses that live in on-campus housing may purchase an ID for membership privileges. See the above link for details.

Galter LifeCenter

Galter LifeCenter is a health-fitness facility affiliated with Swedish Covenant Hospital. Call for current membership plans and schedules. Facilities include a 12-lap/mile running track, a 25-yd. swimming pool, an aerobic studio, and state-of-the-art workout equipment. Galter offers lessons, lectures, and special-interest classes, as well as children's swim lessons for current and non-members. Galter in located at 5157 N. Francisco, just south of Foster.
