Professor in Residence

Because of the Covenant’s rapid growth, there are many new congregations whose members know little about the Seminary.  We need to make new connections with church plants and adoption of congregations, both to maintain crucial elements of the denomination’s identity and to ensure that the Seminary serves the whole Covenant effectively.

Over the past decade, there has also been expansion and diversification of the faculty.  Sending faculty members to the congregations lets them become better acquainted with the breadth of the denomination, and helps them to become better known by pastors and members as well.

We want Seminary faculty members to visit congregations as listeners and observers, not simply as experts.  To do this we have developed Listening Tours, where several teachers ask about ministries and how the Seminary might best serve them, both directly and through its training of future leaders.  Professors-in-Residence meet with the pastoral staff, lay leaders, and other members of the congregation, learning new aspects of ministries in the Covenant.
