Certified athletic trainers (ATCs) are health care professionals that specialize in preventing, recognizing, managing, and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical activity. Students who want to become certified athletic trainers must earn a degree from an accredited athletic training curriculum. A growing number of universities are gaining accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
North Park University has been granted CAATE accreditation of its Athletic Training Educational Program. In October 2003, we received notification that our program received the maximum length accreditation possible for initial programs. Currently, we are preparing for re-accreditation in Spring of 2009.
