Teacher Leader Program Requirements

Master of Arts in Educational Leadership

The North Park University School of Education prepares competent, respectful, and reflective professionals who are dedicated to serving diverse learning communities.

The master of arts in educational leadership (MAEL) is designed for current elementary and secondary teachers in who wish to earn the teacher leader endorsement on their Illinois educator’s license. The program provides a solid foundation in leadership to enable graduates to serve with confidence in various roles, including as academic deans, curriculum specialists, or athletic directors.

Prospective students must be able to meet a specific set of requirements, including holding a valid and current Illinois teaching license, having at least two years of teaching experience, and demonstrating student achievement in their classrooms. Master’s Degree Requirements: 34 total semester hours

Please note, this course sequence is an example for students who begin taking courses in the fall semester. If you enroll in the MAEL program during a different semester, talk to your admissions representative about what your class schedule will be.
