Homecoming:
The World's Fair of 2008
This September 25-28, join fellow North Parkers as we celebrate Homecoming 2008: The World’s Fair. This year marks the 115th and 75th anniversaries of the Chicago World’s Fairs of 1893 and 1933. The 1893 World's Columbian Exposition (also called The Chicago World's Fair) was held in Chicago, and had a profound effect on architecture, the arts, Chicago's self image and American industrial optimism. The 1933 Century of Progress International Exposition celebrated Chicago's centennial and focused on technological innovation. Homecoming weekend will have special speakers and bus tours to focus on the 1893 and 1933 World’s Fairs, and to look at how North Park and Chicago have been impacted and changed since then.
Homecoming 2008 will continue traditional events like the reunion breakfast, banquet, chapel service; athletic events including football, soccer and volleyball; recent additions like the academic dinners, fine arts celebration, River Run and block party, and much, much more!!!
Reunion events will be held for members of the Academy, College, University, and Seminary classes of ’38, ’43, ’48, ’53, ’58, ’63, ’68, ’73, ’78, ’83, ’88, ’93, ’98, ’2003, and '2008.
