Visiting and Researching

The Archives and Special Collections is a unique part of Brandel Library at North Park University, and as such, our hours and policies are different than those of the Library. The collections are open for research by appointment to students, faculty and staff, and to the general public. Due to the nature of archival material, the collections do not circulate and are used on-site. Please contact us with any questions; we are happy to provide reference information about the collections, the repository, or other repositories.

The Archives and Special Collections is open to researchers by appointment between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:30 pm Mondays through Fridays, excluding holidays and University closures. To make an appointment, please contact the Archivist. We will do our best to accommodate your research needs. We cannot accept researchers without appointments.

Policies for Using the Collections

Researchers are required to work with the archival material on-site, as our collections do not circulate. Researchers will be asked to show a photo ID and complete a registration form before using the materials.

Tour the Archives

Groups and classes are welcome to schedule a visit or tour of the Archives. Contact the Archivist to plan a session that fits your group’s needs and interests. Tours generally last 30-60 minutes. Archival instruction can be more in depth and include hands-on training to prepare students to research primary source materials on their own. Read more.
