Medication for upper respiratory tract infection

To relieve cough 

  • Cepacol - throat lozenges, take 1 every one to two hours as needed
  • Robitussin (plain) - cough suppressant, use as directed
  • Robitussin DM - cough suppressant, use as directed

To relieve fever, head and muscle aches

  • Acetaminophen (i.e., Tylenol)
  • Ibuprofen (i.e., I-prin, Advil or Nuprin)

To relieve nasal stuffiness

  • Actifed Nasal Spray -1 spray in each nostril every six hours
  • Chlorpheniramine (i.e., Chlortrimeton) - to relieve allergies as directed.
  • Sudodrin (i.e., Sudodrin or Sudafed) - use as directed

To relieve sore throat

  • Cepacol - throat lozenges - 1 every one to two hours as needed
