North Park Configuration Information
Instructions for both PC and Mac configurations can be found here for the following:

PC Configuration Information
Windows XP should not require any special configuration in order to connect to the North Park Network. If you are having trouble connecting to the network, ensure that your PC is set to use DHCP to obtain an IP address.
1) Open the Control Panel by selecting it from the Start Menu. 2) If you see a "Pick a Category heading in the Control Panel, select Network & Internet Connections. 3) Open the Network Connections Control Panel. 4) Double-click on your primary network connection. (Most likely named Local Area Connection.) 5) Click on the Properties button. 6) Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) from the List, and click the Properties button (as shown below.)
7) The settings should be set to Obtain and IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. If these options are not selected, select them. Click the OK button and close all Control Panel windows. (as shown below.)
8) Reboot your computer and re-test your network connection.
Mac Configuration Information
Mac OS X should not require any special configuration in order to connect to the North Park network. If you are having trouble connecting to the network, ensure that your Mac is set to use DHCP to obtain an IP address.
1) Open the System Preferences located either on the Dock or under the Finder menu. 2) Click on the Network icon. 3) Select the type of internet connection you are using (probably Built-in Ethernet) and click the Configure button . 4) Select the TCP/IP Tab and select Using DHCP from the Configure IPv4 menu. (as shown below.)
5) Click Apply Now and Re-test your Network Connection.
Off Campus Network AccessNo Specific configuration is needed beyond what is needed from your ISP. If you are having trouble connecting to the Internet in general through your ISP connection, please contact their technical support. Please see below for connection to North Park resources from off campus.
Adding North Park to IE Trusted SitesBecause of Security concerns with malicious websites, Internet Explorer does not let some web applications run by default—even if they are safe. This may cause problems with some of the web applications that are used by North Park. To allow these applications to be able to be run, North Park must be added to Internet Explorer's Trusted Sites.
To add North Park to IE Trusted Sites:
1) Open Internet Explorer. 2) Select Tools -> Internet Options from the menu at the top. 3) Select the Security Tab from the menu that pops up. 4) Highlight the Trusted Sites icon if it is not already selected. 5) Click the Sites button. 6) Type *.northpark.edu in the "Add this Website to the zone" box and Click the Add button. 7) Click the OK button for both open boxes.
Connect to your North Park File StorageWeb Access
Your personal file storage can be accessed via the web at https://file.northpark.edu using Internet Explorer of Firefox. When entering the URL manually, please note that this is a secure website and so must be entered as "https". After logging in with your North Park account username and password, you will have access to view, download, upload, and delete files in your storage directory.
On Campus Only Configuration PC
To access your Personal File Storage from Windows XP while on-campus:
1) Open My Computer. 2) Under the Tools Menu at the top, select Map Network Drive.... 3) Select the Drive letter you want to be the Network Drive (probably Z:\) from the Drive Menu. 4) Enter \\exeter.northpark.edu\username$ in the Folder Menu. Please replace username$ with your North Park username followed by a $. (as shown below.)
5) If you do not want to go through these steps each time you want to access your Personal File Server, select the Reconnect at login option. 6) Click the Finish button at the bottom. 7) In the authentication window that appears, enter your username@northpark.edu and your North Park password. 8) Click OK and your Network Drive will mount and open.
On Campus Only Configuration MAC
To access your Personal File Storage from a Mac while on-campus:
1) Click on the Go menu at the top of the desktop and select Connect to Server.... 2) In the Server Address box, enter smb://exeter.northpark.edu/username$. Please replace username$ with your North Park username followed by a $. 3) Click the Connect button. 4) In the authentication window that appears, enter NORTHPARK in the Workgroup or Domain box, your username in the Name box, and your North Park password in the Password box. 5) Click the OK button and your Network Drive will mount and open.
