Guidelines and
Regulations for Using the Collections:
1. To prevent permanent markings of materials,
use of ink is prohibited. Please use
pencils.
2. Food and beverages are not allowed in the
Archives.
3. Coats, hats, umbrellas, bags, briefcases,
etc…may not be brought to research stations with the researcher. All materials brought to research stations
are subject to search. The Archives is
not responsible for lost or stolen items.
4. Please take care when handling all material,
and kindly inform the Archivist if you notice particularly fragile or damaged
material.
5. When working with materials, use only one
folder from any one box at a time.
Please turn loose pages as you would turn pages in a book and please
preserve the arrangement of the materials.
6. In general, photocopying and scanning of
material is allowed. Please see Fee
Form for information on fees.
Photocopying and scanning of fragile material and tightly bound books are
prohibited due to the damage incurred in these processes. For this reason, the Archives staff reserves
the right to deny these processes.
7. At research stations, patrons may use paper,
pencil, and portable computers only.
Please take care to avoid tracing or taking notes on top of
materials.
8. Copies of photographs may be ordered through
the Archives staff. Please see Copy
Policy and Request Form.
9. All users agree to abide to U.S. Copyright
Law (title 17, U.S. Code). Receipt of copies of material does not convey
copyright permission. It is the researcher's responsibility to insure full
compliance with all relevant copyright laws.
In addition, users agree to abide by any restrictions placed on
materials. Information on restrictions
is available from the staff.
10. All users must fully register information
above, read these guidelines, and sign below before using material. Signature implies acknowledgement of
regulations and agreement to abide by them.
